Code execution via unchecked HDCP buffer write
Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Dec 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in the HDCP HAL in Samsung Mobile Devices on Android 13 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code. The HDCP HAL writes beyond a buffer boundary because it fails to perform the boundary check added by the correction. Exploitation requires local access and high privileges, and successful memory corruption executes code with the HAL component's authority.
