Firmware information interception via improper certificate validation
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024
Certificate validation failure in Samsung Mobile Devices' FotaAgent on Android 11 through 13 allows remote attackers to intercept firmware information. FotaAgent accepts a network peer's certificate without proper validation, allowing an attacker in the traffic path to impersonate the update endpoint. Exploitation requires control of the device's network path and exposes firmware information without reported integrity or availability impact.
