CVE-2023-42528

Local code execution via ProcessNvBuffering heap overflow

Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Heap overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Nov-2023 Release 1 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. ProcessNvBuffering in libsec-ril performs an inadequate buffer-size check on input, allowing data to overflow heap memory. Exploitation requires high local privileges on a device running Android 11, 12, or 13, and successful use executes code in the radio interface layer.
