Remote scanning-engine crash via crafted-file decompression
Published Sep 18, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Denial of service in WithSecure endpoint products allows remote attackers to crash the scanning engine with crafted compressed data files. The scanning engine fails to safely handle attacker-controlled input during decompression and terminates instead of rejecting the malformed data. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the result is an interruption of malware scanning without data disclosure or modification.
