Remote scanning-engine crash via PE file unpacking
Published Sep 18, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Denial of service in WithSecure endpoint products allows remote attackers to crash the scanning engine by submitting a crafted PE file. The scanning engine terminates while unpacking an attacker-supplied PE file; WithSecure has not disclosed the failing parser operation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and exploitation interrupts malware scanning on the affected endpoint or server.
