CVE-2023-42501Network attack vector

Authenticated data disclosure via excessive Gamma permissions

Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Jun 5, 2025

Incorrect permissions in Apache Superset before 2.1.2 allow remote authenticated users with the Gamma role to read CSS templates and annotations. The built-in Gamma role grants can_read on the CssTemplate and Annotation resources, exposing their configured contents beyond the role's intended data scope. A valid account assigned Gamma is required, and the reported consequence is limited to reading those application resources.
