CVE-2023-42486

Local privilege escalation via unquoted search path

Published Sep 27, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024

Unquoted search path handling in Fortect 5.0.0.7 and earlier allows local users to elevate privileges through executable-path hijacking. The CNA does not identify the affected executable, service, registry value, or command line that leaves the search path unquoted. Low-privileged access to the host filesystem is required, and successful interception executes attacker-controlled code with elevated privileges.
