Code execution via unchecked GIF palette index

Heap-buffer overflow in OpenImageIO 2.4.12.0 allows remote attackers to execute code or crash an image-processing service via a crafted GIF. GIFInput::read_subimage_data uses each decoded pixel value as a palette index without checking it against the active color map's ColorCount, causing an out-of-bounds heap read. Exploitation requires a target application to process the malformed GIF; the demonstrated proof of concept aborts under AddressSanitizer, while the CVE record also reports code execution.
