Authenticated code execution via unrestricted PHP upload
Published Nov 28, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Chamilo LMS 1.11.24 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through work.ajax.php. Its chunked upload path concatenates a user-supplied filename into SYS_ARCHIVE_PATH and appends data without restricting file types, allowing .htaccess replacement and a PHP web shell in the web-accessible app/cache directory. A learner account with access to view an open course is sufficient, and successful exploitation executes commands as the web server account.
