CVE-2023-4223Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unrestricted document uploads

Published Nov 28, 2023 · Updated Dec 2, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in Chamilo LMS 1.11.24 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through document uploads. The upload_file action in main/inc/ajax/document.ajax.php appends chunks under attacker-controlled filenames in web-root app/cache without restricting dangerous types, allowing .htaccess replacement and PHP execution. A learner account and access to an open course are sufficient to run commands with the web server's privileges.
