Unauthenticated code execution via unsanitized file upload
Published Nov 28, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Chamilo LMS 1.11.24 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through an unauthenticated endpoint. The postUnsupported method passes the user-supplied filename directly to move_uploaded_file, placing arbitrary content under the web root without extension validation. Execution requires the bigupload files directory to exist and be writable by the web server; uploaded PHP then runs with the web server's privileges.
