Account takeover via brute-forceable password reset codes
Published Nov 18, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unverified password change in AppPresser Mobile App Framework 4.2.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over WordPress accounts. The reset-password REST route accepts a weak reset code whose validation enforces neither expiration nor an attempt limit. No authentication is required; repeated guesses can set a new password for a targeted account and assume its privileges.
