Administrator takeover via unchecked profile user identifier
Published Sep 13, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authorization bypass in Simplr Registration Form Plus+ 2.4.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to change arbitrary user passwords. The profile update path in lib/profile.php accepts a user-controlled account identifier and applies the submitted password without verifying that the account belongs to the requester. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to reset an administrator password and take over that account.
