CVE-2023-42124

Privilege escalation via incorrect sandbox authorization

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Incorrect authorization in the sandbox feature of Avast Premium Security 22.12.6044 allows local users to escape it and execute code. ZDI identifies the sandbox implementation but does not disclose the authorization decision, object, or request that is mishandled. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on the host and yields arbitrary code execution outside the sandbox at medium integrity.
