Unauthenticated code execution via NTLM challenge overflow
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Exim 4.95 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted NTLM challenge request. The SPA authenticator fails to validate attacker-controlled challenge length before copying the data into a fixed-length stack buffer. Exposure requires SPA/NTLM authentication to be enabled, and successful exploitation runs code as the Exim service account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
