Code execution via unchecked PDF buffer copy
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in PDF parsing in PDF-XChange Editor 9.5.368.0 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted PDF. PDF parsing copies attacker-controlled data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and successful code runs in the current process context.
