Command execution via unneutralized CSV formulas
Published Nov 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
CSV injection in IBM Security Guardium 11.3 through 11.5 and 12.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via crafted CSV content. Guardium fails to neutralize formula elements in CSV file contents, allowing a spreadsheet to interpret attacker-controlled cells as formulas. The attack requires low-privileged access and a user to open the crafted file, after which embedded formulas can launch commands.
