Administrative access via unauthenticated UUID validation
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Authentication bypass in Arcserve UDP before 9.2 allows remote attackers to access the management console with an unauthenticated UUID. ValidateUserByUUID accepts an authentication UUID obtainable without prior authentication and creates an authenticated console session without credentials. No user interaction is required, and the resulting session can retrieve stored Edge Account administrative credentials.
