Unauthenticated code execution via patch download routine
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Arcserve UDP before 9.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through an exposed SOAP service. RPSService4CPMImpl.downloadAndInstallPatch accepts an attacker-controlled URL, downloads a ZIP into the patch directory, extracts it, and executes a same-named EXE. No credentials or user interaction are required, and successful exploitation runs the supplied executable as SYSTEM on the Windows RPS host.
