CVE-2023-41969

Arbitrary file deletion via symlink-following cleanup

Published Mar 26, 2024 · Updated Oct 17, 2024

Arbitrary file deletion in Zscaler Client Connector before 4.3.0 allows local users to delete files through ZSATrayManager on Windows. ZSATrayManager performs privileged cleanup of the temporary encrypted issue-reporting file without preventing a user-controlled symbolic link from redirecting deletion. Reachability requires local low-privileged access; the documented result is deletion of an attacker-selected file, with no remote trigger reported.
