CVE-2023-41895Network attack vector

Account takeover via unchecked redirect URI scheme

Published Oct 19, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Home Assistant Core before 2023.9.0 allows remote attackers to take over an installation via a crafted login link. The auth_callback flow accepts a client page's link rel=redirect_uri target without applying the HTTP-or-HTTPS scheme check and executes a javascript URI in the administration origin. A victim must follow the crafted authorization link and complete the login flow, after which injected script gains the authenticated frontend's account-level access.
