CVE-2023-41835Network attack vector

Remote service interruption via retained upload files

Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Incomplete cleanup in Apache Struts 2.0.0 through 2.5.31 and 6.1.2.1 through 6.3.0 allows remote attackers to exhaust disk space. Multipart handling rejects a request when a field exceeds maxStringLength but fails to delete uploaded files from struts.multipart.saveDir. An unauthenticated multipart endpoint that accepts file uploads is required; repeated rejected requests can fill the save directory and halt the hosting application.
