Authenticated password changes via manipulated user_id
Published Aug 6, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper access control in SourceCodester Inventory Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to change another account's password. The Password Handler trusts a manipulated user_id when edit_update.php selects the account whose password is updated, bypassing account-level authorization. A valid low-privileged session and network access are required, and exploitation changes account credentials without reported data disclosure or service interruption.
