Unauthenticated code execution via L2TP use-after-free
Published Oct 10, 2023 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Use-after-free in Windows L2TP on affected Windows releases allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted messages to an RRAS server. The L2TP message handler accesses freed memory when concurrent processing of crafted protocol messages wins a race. The target must run RRAS with L2TP enabled; successful exploitation runs code on the server without credentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
