CVE-2023-41744

Local privilege escalation via unsigned library loading

Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Acronis Agent before build 30600 and Cyber Protect 15 before build 35979 allows local users to gain root access. A privileged macOS component loads unsigned libraries without enforcing a valid cryptographic signature, allowing attacker-controlled code to enter its process. A local low-privileged account and the affected macOS agent are required; successful exploitation executes code with elevated privileges.
