CVE-2023-41726

SYSTEM code execution via permissive installation folders

Published Nov 3, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Ivanti Avalanche before 6.4.1.236 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM. The installer creates product folders with permissions that allow low-privileged code to alter their contents, enabling execution in a SYSTEM context. Exploitation requires prior low-privileged code execution on the Windows server and yields SYSTEM-level control.
