Manager-to-administrator escalation via unsanitized donor role
Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Improper privilege management in GiveWP 2.33.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with GiveWP Manager access to gain higher privileges. The donor default-user-role setting accepts a privileged WordPress role without adequate sanitization, allowing the configured role to exceed the manager's authority. GiveWP Manager access is required, and selecting an administrator-level role grants control of the WordPress site.
