Local code execution via missing TcApi.dll lookup
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 28, 2024
DLL hijacking in Hangzhou EZVIZ Network Co., Ltd. EZVIZ Studio 2.2.0 allows local users to execute code through a planted library. EzvizStudio.exe requests the absent TcApi.dll without an absolute path, so Windows searches user-writable directories and loads an attacker-planted copy. A local user must place the DLL in a searched directory and wait for a user to launch the application; the payload then runs with that user's privileges.
