Root credential recovery via embedded password hash
Published Sep 18, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Hardcoded credentials in Victure PC420 firmware 1.1.39 allow attackers to recover the camera's reusable root password. The firmware stores a salted root-password hash in /etc/passwd; a vendor-derived wordlist recovers the fixed credential in seconds. Extracting the hash requires access to firmware, and the stock configuration exposes no Telnet, SSH, or other shell for using the credential.
