Stored script execution via unsafe Markdown rendering
Published Aug 29, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Stored XSS in copyparty before 1.9.2 allows local users with server write access to execute JavaScript through crafted Markdown. The WEEKEND-PLANS Markdown editor and full-page viewer render attacker-supplied markup without reliably suppressing embedded script content. Exploitation requires existing write access and a victim to open the crafted file; the upstream project disputes the security boundary because such users can upload HTML containing JavaScript.
