Stored JavaScript execution via crafted article content
Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in WP Githuber MD 1.16.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted article content. The Markdown article workflow stores a tab-indented closing textarea tag and script element, then renders them as active markup in a client browser. Article creation and publication access plus a victim viewing the published content are required, limiting execution to the site context in that browser.
