System time disclosure via permitted ICMP timestamp requests
Published Nov 3, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024
Information exposure in Chunghwa Telecom Nokia G-040W-Q G040WQR201207 allows remote attackers to read device time through ICMP timestamp requests. Its firewall permits ICMP Timestamp Request packets by default and returns timestamp data instead of blocking those unauthenticated probes. Network reachability to ICMP is the only stated gate; the disclosed data is limited to device timing information and does not include write access or service interruption.
