CVE-2023-41319Network attack vector

Remote code execution via bypassable Python sandbox

Published Sep 6, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

Code injection in Ethyca Fides 2.11.0 through 2.18.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary Python code. ConnectorTemplateLoader passes Python from an uploaded integration ZIP to register_custom_functions, which compiles and executes it while delegating non-denylisted imports to Python's unrestricted importer. Exploitation requires the privileged CONNECTOR_TEMPLATE_REGISTER scope and an enabled, default-off custom-function setting; code runs as the webserver process owner, which is root in the default container.
