Plaintext recovery via SSH CBC encryption
Published Sep 27, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Inadequate encryption in Dell Data Protection Central 19.9 allows remote attackers to recover plaintext from SSH ciphertext blocks. The SSH service permits CBC-mode encryption, and the resulting ciphertext blocks can be recovered as plaintext. Exploitation requires network reachability to the SSH service and no account; Dell does not disclose the additional conditions behind the attack complexity.
