CVE-2023-41267

Code execution via incorrect pip package recommendation

Published Sep 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Dependency confusion in Apache Airflow HDFS Provider before 4.1.1 allows attackers to execute code via an incorrect pip package name. HDFS hook and sensor exception text recommended apache-airflow-providers-hdfs instead of the official apache-airflow-providers-apache-hdfs distribution. A user must encounter the legacy guidance and manually install the named package; successful substitution executes attacker-controlled installation code.
