Unauthenticated root command execution via sorting injection
Published Oct 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
SQL injection in Plixer Scrutinizer before 19.3.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL through the generateCSV endpoint. The csvExportReport handler inserts the unvalidated sorting value directly into an ORDER BY clause in a backend database query. No authentication or user interaction is required; database writes can create an administrator session or schedule a task that executes commands as root.
