Root code execution via StaticDefaultGateway stack overflow
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DAP-1325 firmware 1.07b01 allows remote attackers to execute code as root through HNAP1. The SetHostIPv6StaticSettings path copies the StaticDefaultGateway XML value into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length. Authentication is not required, but the attacker must reach the extender from an adjacent network; successful exploitation grants root control of the device.
