Unauthenticated code execution via SecondaryDNS stack overflow
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DAP-1325 1.07b01 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication. The HNAP1 SetAPLanSettings handler copies attacker-controlled SecondaryDNS XML data into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access to the SOAP endpoint and executes code in the root context, permitting complete control of the appliance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
