Unauthenticated root command execution via unvalidated StaticDNS2
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DAP-1325 firmware 1.07b01 and earlier allows remote attackers on an adjacent network to execute code as root. The HNAP1 SetHostIPv6StaticSettings handler passes the user-controlled StaticDNS2 value to a system call without proper validation. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the attacker must reach the extender from an adjacent network; exploitation provides root-level control of the device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
