Root code execution via unvalidated HNAP Mode parameter
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in the HNAP1 SOAP endpoint in D-Link DAP-1325 firmware 1.07b01 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code. The SetAPLanSettings handler passes the unvalidated Mode request parameter to a system call, enabling OS command injection. The endpoint is reachable without authentication only from an adjacent network, and injected commands run with root privileges.
