Stored script execution via unneutralized forwarding field
Published Sep 13, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Stored XSS in Webmin and Usermin 2.000 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user’s browser via a forwarding rule. The mail-forwarding interface saves attacker-controlled HTML from the forward to field and later renders it as executable content in Complex configuration mode. An account able to create a forwarding rule and a second user who views that configuration are required, exposing data and actions available to the viewer’s session.
