Unauthenticated server crash via blocked-socket error handling
Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated May 22, 2025
Uncaught exception handling in Softing OPC UA C++ SDK 6.20.1 and earlier on Windows allows remote attackers to crash the server. An exception escapes when the server sends an error packet while its socket is blocked for writing, terminating the process. The same condition affects Secure Integration Server 1.22 and earlier and OPC Suite 5.30 and earlier, interrupting service until restart.
