Unauthenticated root command execution via empty AuthToken
Published Aug 28, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
OS command injection in Patton SmartNode SN200 3.21.2-23021 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute commands as root via its web interface. The Network Diagnostic Commands endpoint accepts an arbitrary cmd value, while an empty AuthToken cookie bypasses its authorization check. Network access to the HTTP interface is sufficient for root-level command execution, and testing also confirmed the flaw in 3.22.0-23083 firmware.
