CVE-2023-41102Network attack vector

Service interruption via unreleased captive-portal allocations

Published Nov 17, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Memory leaks in the openNDS captive portal before 10.1.3 allow remote attackers to exhaust memory and interrupt gateway service. Client deletion fails to release token, hash, custom-data, client-type, identifier, and CPI-query allocations, while other paths pass owned buffers to safe_asprintf without freeing them. Unauthenticated network requests can repeatedly exercise the captive-portal paths until available memory is consumed, causing a service interruption.
