Deleted attachment disclosure via incomplete thread cleanup
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024
Missing authorization in Mattermost 7.8.7, 7.9.5, and 7.10.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to download deleted attachments. The threaded-message deletion path removes the message without revoking access to its attached files, leaving their download references usable. Remote authenticated users can retrieve a retained attachment after its parent message is deleted, exposing the file contents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
