Admin command execution via unsandboxed GCODE templates
Published Oct 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Template injection in GCODE Scripts in OctoPrint before 1.9.3 allows remote authenticated administrators to execute commands. The script renderer passes administrator-controlled GCODE templates to a standard Jinja2 Environment, allowing unsafe template expressions; the fix substitutes SandboxedEnvironment. Exploitation requires ADMIN permission and rendering a configured script, granting the commands the OctoPrint process rights.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
