Authenticated Velocity execution via unchecked TextArea properties
Published Sep 1, 2023 · Updated Sep 30, 2024
Incorrect authorization in XWiki Platform 7.2 through 14.10.9 and 15.0-rc-1 through 15.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute Velocity code. TextAreaClass renders VelocityCode and VelocityWiki properties without checking the document author's script right, so property content reaches the Velocity evaluator. Edit rights are required to create the XClass property and add an object; execution uses the author context but exposes otherwise restricted data and APIs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
