CVE-2023-41045Network attack vector

DNS cache poisoning via reused query source port

Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024

DNS cache poisoning in Graylog Open Server before 5.0.9 and 5.1.0 through 5.1.2 allows remote attackers to inject forged DNS responses. The DNS lookup data adapter creates one Netty DNS resolver backed by a single UDP socket and reuses its initially randomized source port for every query. Exploitation requires spoofing the configured recursive resolver's replies while the DNS lookup adapter is active, and accepted responses corrupt the adapter's lookup-table cache.
