CVE-2023-41044Network attack vector

Admin file access via prefix-only path validation

Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Sep 27, 2024

Path traversal in Graylog Open Server 5.1.0 through 5.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to read or delete sibling-directory files. SupportBundleService.ensureFileWithinBundleDir accepted a canonical path when its string merely started with the bundle-directory path, so similarly prefixed sibling directories passed validation. Admin-role credentials and a crafted filename targeting such a sibling directory are required; successful requests expose or delete the selected file.
