Information disclosure via unguarded format field traversal
Published Aug 30, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024
Information disclosure in Zope Foundation RestrictedPython 5.3 and earlier and 6.0 through 6.1 allows attackers to read accessible objects. The safer_getattr guard blocks only one string-formatting path, leaving str.format_map, class-level str.format calls, and string.Formatter able to traverse attacker-chosen attribute and subscription chains. Exploitation requires control of code or a format string evaluated inside a host's restricted environment; disclosed data can include secrets reachable from supplied objects.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
